The Start Yachting course is the perfect introduction to yacht sailing. Running over a weekend you’ll gain experience steering a yacht, handling the sails, be introduced to some ropework and have a good understanding of safety on board a modern cruising yacht.
- Rigging, Safety On Board and Readying a Yacht for Sea
- Steering a Yacht
- Setting the Sails
- Rules of the Road
This course is held on board one of our Elan 36s 'Beaufort Venture' or ‘Dream Catcher’. Both are 36-foot cruising yachts with 6 berths, full kitchen including stove and fridge, as well as toilet facilities.
We provide foul weather waterproofs, though you will need to bring warm clothing to wear underneath this gear, as well as footwear you wouldn’t mind getting a wet - runners are ideal! We also recommend you bring a spare change of clothes.
