Another win in the DBSC Spring Chicken adds to the growing number of podium finishes in the DBSC Winter Sailing Series, and there's plenty more to come from the Dun Laoghaire based Irish National Sailing & Powerboat School.

DBSC Turkey Shoot Success

Team INSS.ie’s win in the recent DBSC Spring Series was much more than a win for some seasoned racers.  Look closer at the crew and you will see that it was largely made up of the experienced crew that will race onboard LYNX the Reflex 38 owned by the INSS this year which is giving 5 persons the chance to race around Ireland on a thoroughbred race boat.  Kenny Rumball who skippered the 1720 and will skipper LYNX this year elected to use the DBSC Spring Series as an opportunity for the experienced sailors many of whom will crew the Round Ireland Campaign to race together and get back in the prior, rather than our usual novice race training programme.

Preparations for Round Ireland Campaign

Now that the experienced crew are in shape for the season, thoughts now turn to bringing the whole crew together.  LYNX has undergone a few changes ahead of this year’s race and the first training weekend for the crew is coming up on the 16th & 17th of April.  Four of the five slots have been filled and there is still one spot up for grabs for a budding offshore racer who wants to compete in the unique event that is the Round Ireland Yacht Race and learn, all while being part of an experienced offshore racing crew.

With an intensive training programme coming up, including two training weekends and 4 ISORA races including deliveries, the crew should be well honed prior to the start of the campaign.

There’s a more details on the Round Ireland Campaign on Lynx available here.
