11-14 years section head Shane Kelly details two new programmes for 11-14 year old sailors.
We’ve developed two programmes with better sailing at their heart. The first of which involves taking part in an informal, light hearted racing series being run by the Irish National Sailing Club, with support from the school. Advanced sailors from the 11-14 years section are invited to take part in this series in the school’s RS Feva Dinghies taking place over 6 Saturday mornings between October and March.
The second programme is a focused coaching programme, again taking place on the new RS Fevas, this Halloween. Boat handling skills and a gentle introduction will be the focus of this coaching week. Over the past 40 years we’ve developed a unique style of sail training, where fun and participation take precedence over racing ability and results. We’re by no means abandoning this, instead we’re extending this style to allow advanced 11-14 year-old sailors an introduction to advanced boat handling techniques, something that will benefit aspiring instructors as much as aspiring national champions!
RS Super Series – What’s involved?
The INSC RS Super Series comprises of 6 race dates, beginning this Saturday the 6th of October and running the 7th November, 15th December, 19th January, 23rd February and 23rd March. Racing is from 9am-1pm. Participants will sail the RS Fevas with charter and entry costing €150 and €60 respectively, so when split between the pair the cost is €105. Students sailing in the Junior Club 10am-1pm can transfer to the afternoon session free of charge. Our instructing team will be out running the racing, so coaching, hints and tips will all be provided. Learn More...
