Junior Club Information - Book Now!
The Junior Club got underway last Saturday and is off to a great start. Our section heads, Lorcan, Emma and Conor detail what the rest of the term holds.
7-10 Years Group - Section Head: Lorcan
I’m really keen to get as much sailing completed as possible, with some highlights including:
- Sailing all around Dun Laoghaire Harbour including the secret tunnels!
- Focus on every sailor’s skills at making the boat sail at all angles to the wind
- Follow the leaders! Letting everyone to lead the group -
- Getting out for a spin on our larger keelboats
- Swimming, games and maybe a go on our brand new inflatable water park
7-10 Years: More info...
11-14 Years Group - Section Head: Emma
Some of what’s planned for the term ahead includes:
- Progress through log books
- Sail new and more challenging courses
- Get each student to sail at least one different boat to the one that they are used to, hence gaining experience and skills
- Sail our keelboats, whether it be squibs or 1720's
I also hope that by the end of the term each student is comfortable sailing in all weather conditions, as it's almost guaranteed we will have a blustery day or two over the autumn/winter months!

15+ Years Group - Section Head: Conor
I plan to get everyone onto a huge range of boats and develop as many new skills as possible. We hopefully plan to guide some of the students into our instructor training program later in the term also. This will allow them to be the next generation of dinghy instructors and pass their skills onto others.
I have lots planned for this term including:
- Building up our beginner sailor’s confidence to both helm and crew a both effectively.
- Move into bigger and more powerful boats for all levels
- Introduce our sailors to the 1720 sportsyachts
- Complete a Day Trip, prepare for our Annual Regatta and much, much more!
