11-14 Years Group – November Newsletter
Hey guys!
I hope everyone had a great Halloween and mid-term break! We had a really good first half of the term so let’s hope we can carry that through to the second half, though I’ve no doubt that we will! We covered a lot of things before Halloween including sailing in a variety of weather conditions, kayaking (when the weather was just a little too much for us to handle!) and progressing through our log books. We also managed to get one of the groups out onto keelboats which we will be hoping to do more of in this half of the term. The plan for the rest of the term is to keep progressing through log books and fine tuning the skills that we learned before Halloween!
To make the most of our time out on the water and we need to make sure that we are comfortable and warm enough for this to happen! Please ensure that you bring hats with you every week and wear appropriate layers under your wetsuit such as under armour/rash vests as winter is fast approaching and temperatures are already set to drop!
Sailing during the School Closures…
In the case of school closures next week we'll be open for students affected from 9am-5pm, but are open from 8am to 6pm for early drop off and late collection at no extra cost. Keelboat and Yacht Sailing will be the main activity ensuring everyone is on the water rather than in it. If the strike is called off, we'll issue a full refund. The cost for the day is €39.
As many parents will be rushing off to work we’ve put in place time saving initiatives to speed up registration.
Parents – Get Feedback about your child…
Please don’t hesitate to pop in while dropping your child off, or collecting, to have a chat with me about anything that may come up. Also, you can call the team in the office during the week, their office hours are Tuesday – Saturday (9am-5pm), or contact them by email to sailing@inss.ie.
I hope to see you down this Saturday, and if there’s anything that you want to cover or do – Just Ask!
Yours Sincerely,
Emma Newe
