A well deserved result for the crew!
The Irish National Sailing & Powerboat crew celebrated second overall in the Offshore IRC class, a fleet of 32–boats, the biggest division of the 2017 Volvo Dun Laoghaire Regatta. The J109 crew on Jedi skippered by Kenneth Rumball finished just 5 points off the top spot.
Onboard with Kenneth were crew members Deidre Foley, Fearghus McCormack, Keith Kiernan, Barry McCartin, Lorcan Tighe and helm Kylie McMillan.
Day 1 consisted of a race to the South Burford mark, followed by a trip to Bray and back on the second day. The third day’s coastal race saw competitors take in a circuit around the Burford Bank followed by a finish inside the harbour. The final day’s light wind proved a particular challenge with another coastal race on the agenda.
They scored 12, 2, 2 and a 9 on the final day over courses that saw fleet race out to the North Burford buoy on Dublin Bay and as far south as Bray, County Wicklow in mainly light winds and some strong tides.
The next major outing for the crew will be the Rolex Fastnet Race, beginning on Sunday the 6th of August, beginning in Cowes and finishing in Plymouth.
