Build Cruising Experience with Chief Instructor Kenneth Rumball
As part of our Fastnet Race Campaign our J109 Jedi will need to move locations depending on races this year. We thought this would provide an excellent opportunity for course attendees to gain additional cruising experience with one of Ireland’s top racers, and chief instructor of the Irish National Sailing & Powerboat School, Kenneth Rumball.
Voyage 1 - Dingle to Dun Laoghaire
The first training voyage will be from Dingle to Dun Laoghaire, setting off on Saturday the 17th June at about lunchtime and should last about 48 hours. Covering roughly 280 miles the crew will have plenty of time to gain experience at watch systems, optimal sail trimming and all the other considerations required for undertaking a passage of this distance. The crew are expected back in Dun Laoghaire by lunchtime on Monday the 19th of June.
For those who need a hand getting to Dingle the Irish National Sailing & Powerboat School’s mini-bus will be leaving Dun Laoghaire early on the morning of Saturday the 17th of June with a set of cruising sails for the passage. We’re happy for crew to journey down to Dingle aboard the mini-bus at no extra cost. Additionally, the Irish National Sailing & Powerboat School will provide lifejackets and oilskins for crew members. Food and meals will be provided on board.
The cost of this training voyage is €199. Please get in touch with our office to chat about joining the crew on 01 2844195 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
There will be further opportunities to gain from Kenneth’s skills as the campaign progresses. Details will be announced in due course, but please do get in touch if you want to hear the details in advance!
