Advanced Yachting Programmes this February

In advance of the traditional sailing season our advanced yachting programmes will help yacht sailors get back into the swing of things.

Man Over Board Recovery Refresher

Course Outline:

This one-day refresher programme covers recovery under power and sail, different techniques to retrieve the person back onto the yacht and emergency procedures. The next programme takes place on Saturday the 17th of February from 9.30am-5pm.

Who should do this course?

Yacht owners and their crew heading off cruising, Dublin bay racers and those heading off on a charter holiday this Summer.

Mooring and Handling Under Power Refresher

Course Outline:

This one-day refresher programme drills participants on all those tricky mooring techniques and manoeuvres under power. The next programme takes place on Sunday the 18th of February.

Who should do this course?

If you’re heading abroad on a charter holiday this Summer this course is the one for you! Local sailors who want to improve their handling under power confidence are also encouraged to attend.

Coastal Skipper Course

Programme Outline:

The Coastal Skipper course is a five-day programme designed to increase participants knowledge, skills and confidence from the Day Skipper Level. The programme includes much longer passages than on the Day Skipper Course and more night time sailing. The next course runs from the 19th-23rd February.

Who should do this course?

Day Skipper graduates looking to take the next step up the sailing ladder are the ideal candidates for this course.

International Certificate of Competency (ICC) Direct Assessment

Programme Outline:

The ICC Direct Assessment is comprised of a practical assessment including Man Over Board Recovery, general sailing, mooring and manoeuvres under power, followed by a theoretical assessment covering navigation, collision regulations, day shapes, night lights and buoyage. The next assessment takes place on the 24th of February.

Who should do this course?

Any experienced sailor who is looking to charter a yacht abroad but does not have the required paperwork or licenses. The ICC is explained in full here.
