Here's the Team INSS.ie preview of the 2015 1720 National Championships in Baltimore.
After a busy few days getting our 1720 together and dusting off the boat and the bits for it, Race Training Coaches, Alexander and Kenneth headed off down to Baltimore today, leaving Dun Laoghaire at 7:30am, a thankfully non eventful drive saw the boys arrive in Baltimore for 1pm.
The rest of the crew, who have sailed with Kenneth in the Fireball, 1720 and also on LYNX were still working at their day jobs in Dublin leaving Alexander and Kenneth to work tirelessly to firstly clean the boat after its travels followed by a polish, fitting the rudder, raising the mast, tuning and then rigging everything to crane the boat in for 5pm, record time! With the rest of the crews, Keith Kiernan, Conor Kinsella and Andrew Boyle en route, Alexander and Kenneth have checked into the accommodation and are off to grab a quick bite to eat. Briefing for the fleet is at 9pm with an early start and better weather expected for tomorrow.
Last year’s 1720 National Championships were great fun for Team INSS.ie, and you can check out their performance on our video from the event, which Sailing Anarchy even saw reason to feature!
Kenneth and the crew are looking forward to the three day event, finishing up on Saturday. But there’s no rest for them, with the Irish National Sailing and Powerboat School’s Open Day this Sunday they’ll be heading back up to Dublin to introduce new sailors to the water for only €10!
