We are fortunate to have one of Ireland's top sailors on our management team. With a glittering background of successes in Optimist, 420, Fireball and offshore yacht racing, Kenneth brings a wealth of racing and general sailing knowledge to the plate. Kenneth runs programmes in Powerboating, Junior Sailing, Schools Sailing, Dinghy Instructor Pre-Entry Preparation and our Yachting Programmes. Kenneth is also our VHF radio trainer.
Kenneth is a vetern of a number of sucessful offshore yacht racing campaigns, including the Rolex Fastnet, Rolex Sydney Hobart and Rolex Middle Sea, where he finished 2nd overall in 2014. In 2017 he skippered the school's J109 yacht Jedi to first place IRC 3B in the Rolex Fastnet Race, winning the sailing school's Roger Justice Trophy.
Glyn has been with the school for 15 years and brings a wealth of teaching experience to the role. Glyn now runs the operation on a day to day basis, managing all aspects of course delivery and operations. Glyn also actively voleenters with the Irish National Sailing Club, which was founded by staff and graduates from the school in 2015 by looking after their day to day operations.
You'll find Vonnie as the helpful and friendly voice at the end of the telephone. Vonnie manages all aspects of our busy office, having a wealth of experience in corpoate and eduction roles.
You’ll find Muriel as the helpful and friendly face in the clubhouse. Muriel will ensure that your experience with us is both enjoyable and pleasant. In addition to this role, Muriel also puts in many hours preparing a platter of finger food for our adult course attendees each weekend! Muriel also runs our 4-6 year old Sea Explorers programme in the Summer and was the initial chairperson of Irish Sailing's Access and Participation group, where inititives such as "Try Sailing" were formulated.
Alistair, as founder of the company and former leading Irish sailor, has almost 50 years experience of the marine industry. Having run the sailing business from Dun Laoghaire since 1978, Alistair’s knowledge of the area is unrivalled. In addition to his role as our Managing Director, Alistair is regarded as one of Europe’s leading Marine Safety Coordinators for Film and Television work, and has worked on some of the biggest blockbusters of the last 30 years, including Saving Private Ryan, Into the West and Robin Hood.
With a reputation that precedes him, Alistair is the man who directors such as Neil Jordan, Ridley Scott and Steven Spielberg liaise with to make sure they come away with the shot they are looking for.
Arthur ran our Maintenance Unit in the Dun Laoghaire Harbour Public Boatyard, tending to a fleet of up to 250 boats with his team on an almost daily basis. Diligent, methodical and highly experienced, Arthur is the reason behind the success of our fleet of boats – visitors from far and wide would continually compliment his application and dedication.
