Alistair Rumball

Director

 

Alistair, as founder of the company and former leading Irish sailor, has almost 50 years experience of the marine industry. Having run the sailing business from Dun Laoghaire since 1972, Alistair’s knowledge of the area is unrivalled. In addition to his role as our Managing Director, Alistair is regarded as one of Europe’s leading Marine Safety Coordinators for Film and Television work, and has worked on some of the biggest blockbusters of the last 30 years, including Saving Private Ryan, Into the West and Robin Hood. (to be released in 2011)

With a reputation that precedes him, Alistair is the man who directors such as Neil Jordan, Ridley Scott and Steven Spielberg liaise with to make sure they come away with the shot they are looking for.

 

Alistair also acts as Chief Powerboat Instructor for the company.

 

 

Arthur Rumball

Director

 

Arthur runs our Maintenance Unit in the Dun Laoghaire Harbour Public Boatyard, tending to a fleet of up to 200 boats with his team on an almost daily basis throughout the year. Diligent, methodical and highly experienced, Arthur is the reason behind the success of our fleet of boats – visitors from far and wide continually compliment his application and dedication. With over 40 years in the Marine Industry, including setting up and running local chandler Viking Marine until 1999, Arthur is generally regarded as Dun Laoghaire’s authority on boat maintenance. Before Arthur sold Viking Marine on to its present owners, Arthur managed after every aspect of running the chandlery, including accounts, recruitment, orders and dealing directly with clients.

 

 

Arthur is also a keen rugby enthuasist. 

 

 

Niall Martin

General Manager

 

Niall manages the day to day running of the company. Highly trained, Niall studied law for some years and his First Class honours degree in Company Law serves him well for his day to day role in the business. Currently completing a Postgraduate Diploma in Employment Law, Niall hopes to begin an MBA course on a part time basis this September. The role of manager sees Niall look after countless areas including marketing and P.R., recruitment, accounts, sales, procurement, liaison with clients and quality checks. He also has spearheaded our charity work for Crumlin Children’s Hospital which has raised over €16,500 for the cause in the last three years.

 

Niall is also our Chief Sailing Instructor.

 

 

Kenneth Rumball

Sailing Coach 

 

We are fortunate to have one of Ireland's top sailors on our coaching staff. With a glittering background of successes in the Optimist, 420, Fireball and 49er classes, Kenneth brings a wealth of racing and general sailing knowledge to the plate. Kenneth runs programmes in Powerboating, Adult Training, Junior Sailing, Schools Sailing and Dinghy Instructor Pre-Entry Preparation.

 

 

Kevin O'Leary

Boathouse Maintenance & Powerboat Instructor

 

With us for over four years, Kevin works with Arthur in our Maintenance Department and also works as a Powerboat Instructor.

 

 

Betty Walsh

Accounts Department

 

Betty is with the company for over 15 years, and looks after our accounts.

 

 

Glyn Williams

Office Administration

 

In addition to working as a Dinghy and Powerboat Instructor, you'll find Glyn as the friendly and helpful voice on the other end of the telephone when you call to book!
